DnDProjector

My friend over at DNDNerd.com stumbled across a really cool new use for digital projectors. By projecting maps downward onto a table, tabletop gamers are able to blend technology with old school gaming for interactive maps that can preform a plethora of new ability’s over using large sheets of paper. Hiding traps, treasure, and other secret areas are perfected now with the right map making software.

Role players certainly are crafty folk, professional projector ceiling mounts can cost hundreds of dollars, but fans of projected maps have been spotted using anything from chain to dish drains. I managed to trick Mr. Fevre of DNDNerd.com into an interview with my cunning wit, despite a natural zero in disguise.

MM:Tell me about when you first discovered people using projectors in this fashion?

DNDNerd: I was actually checking out some of the posts on TreasureTables.org when I ran into a post about it. Martin Ralya at that site linked to the page on penpaperpixel.org that’s dedicated to projector setups.

MM: How popular would you say this method is?

DNDNerd: Currently… probably not very much, and I think it’s more based on the cost of getting the projector, plus whatever work is needed to get it up and running. But I can see it being very popular amongst the more hardcore crowd. This will be something that I’ll definitely be doing.

Hah, I did not think of that. Project a huge thanksgiving spread when your eating a hot pocket by yourself so you don’t feel as bad.
